Telecoms provider in the West Midlands required specialised transport delivery and data centre positioning of 48u racks, however they were required to be maneuvered through standard double doors.
Using one of our trusted specialised transport suppliers the racks were delivered on a specialised air ride vehicle with full cantilever tail lift.
Each rack was un-boxed from its original manufacturers packing and fully inspected before removing from the pallet.
The doors & side panels including door hinges had to be carefully removed to reduce the weight and reduce overall width.
Each rack was then carefully taken off the pallets and maneuvered up a slope to the side of the data centre where the standard double doors were located.
Once each rack was positioned in the required location the door hinges, side panels and doors were carefully re-attached and the racks were lined up as required by the customer.
All packing and specialised tilting equipment was removed and delivery was completed.
This delivery required Freightspace to produce a RAMS document prior to delivery. Please see RAMS doc blog on this website to explain why.
Using specialised tilting equipment and with only 10cms spare each side each rack was tilted and carefully pulled under the door frame and then carefully up-righted.
The racks were then taken carefully to a second doorway and then tilted over onto a specialised dolly and then maneuvered through, then once again up-righted.
This was all carried out in a live data centre so extra care had to be taken to avoid live racks.
